1) Following Jesus We discover how to follow Jesus by saying "yes" to worshipping God, talking with Him in prayer, learning about Him in the Bible and sharing His love with others. The deeper our relationship with Jesus grows the more we become like Him and discover what it means to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength! (Mark 12:29-30) 2) Building Community Following Jesus means not only loving God but loving others. In the context of family and friendships we live out our love for God in meaningful, practical ways. The church was never meant to be a dead institution but a lively community of believers following Jesus together. Building community is saying "yes" to strong families and loving friendships. At Clear River we build community through supporting families and connecting people in community groups. (Acts 2:42-47) 3) Serving Together Jesus said that the greatest in the kingdom of heaven is the servant of all. People who say a deeper "yes" to God's love discover that God calls us to serve one another in love. At Clear River we serve one another by working together. It may be assisting a new mom with meals, helping a family move, setting up for Sunday service, playing on the music team, praying for the sick, hosting a community group, teaching children or just being a listening ear. In these, and a host of other ways, we work together to "wash one another's feet" in loving service. (John 13:1-14; Romans 12:9-13)
4) Reaching our World The river flows! We want to say a deeper "yes" to God's love by sharing in His compassion and concern for those who have yet to discover what it means to follow Jesus. The Bible tells us that Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost. (Luke 19:10) Whether it's simply giving out a bottle of cold water on a hot day or helping to care for orphans in another country, we look for ways to bring the "living water" of God's love to others. (Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 24:34-40)
Dive in! These are just short descriptions of who we seek to be. We are not the fellowship of the perfect! We are a community of the broken, brought to new life by God's good grace and learning to walk together as followers of Jesus. At Clear River you will find people you can relate to, people who have struggles and pressures just like you. We're a community where you can know and be known, love and be loved, serve and be served, celebrate and be celebrated. That's both an invitation and a promise. The best way to get to know us? Jump in! The water is great.
