ABOUT US

WHAT'S OUR NAME ABOUT? WHAT'S AT THE CORE OF WHO WE ARE? WHAT DO WE BELIEVE? WHO LEADS THE CHURCH?

ALL ABOUT CLEAR RIVER

WHY THE NAME CLEAR RIVER?

The name Clear River comes from three passages in God’s Word: Ezekiel 47: 12, Revelation 22:1-5 and John 7:38-39.

In the first two of these there is a vision of a river flowing from God and bringing life and healing to all it touches.

Where the river flows, life abounds. – Ezekiel 47:9b

This is our heart’s desire! We want to be a life-giving community. We can’t do that on our own. The river is something, or rather someone, that comes from God.

In the passage from John, Jesus says:

“Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.”

(John 7:38-39)

When Jesus spoke about living water, He was referring to God’s very presence that dwells in the hearts of every believer. He is the river and He intends for that living water to flow from our lives in life giving ways.

The journey begins when we say our first “yes” to God’s love.

That “yes” is a yes to relationship with God through Jesus Christ. If you have never entered into a relationship with Jesus, you can find out more about it by clicking here.

THE CLEAR RIVER DNA

OUR MISSION

We are always saying a deeper yes to Jesus Christ through gathering, connecting, giving and becoming a life-giving river bringing healing and hope to neighbors and nations.

FOUR VALUES GUIDE ALL WE DO:

God’s Glory: We exist for the glory of God and His praise in every nation. (Ps. 22:27-28Rev. 5:9-10)

The Gospel: We are a Gospel-Driven Community. (Matt. 28:18-20Rom. 1:16-17, 1 Cor. 15:1-52 Cor. 5:11-21)

Authentic Discipleship: We live a lifestyle of everyday offerings. (1 Pet. 2:4-5; 9-10; Heb. 13:15; Rom. 12:1-2; Heb. 13:16, 1 Pet. 2:9; Matt. 28:19-20)

Joy: We pursue the greatest joy possible! (Jn. 15:11; Ps. 26:11; 43:3-4; Isa. 51:11; Gal. 5:22)

OUR 4C STRATEGY

We focus on 4 strategies:

We are creating a climate of worship that enables people to say “yes” to the love of God. (Ps. 34; Acts 2:42; 1 Cor. 10:16-17)

We are cultivating a community of faith that equips believers to live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ (Eph. 4Acts 2:42-47)

We are commissioning one another to joyfully be the church in every place! (John 13:12-17; Gal. 5:136:10; 1 Peter 4:8-11; 1 Thess. 5:15; Tit. 3:14)

We are communicating the gospel to everyone we can. (2 Cor. 5:18-20; Col.4:6; 1 Pet. 3:15-16; 2 Tim. 2:23-26)

WHAT WE BELIEVE

CLEAR RIVER HOLDS TO ESSENTIAL ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN BELIEFS BEST EXPRESSED IN THE HISTORIC CREEDS OF OUR FAITH:

The Apostles Creed

We believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.

He triumphed over hell.
The third day He rose again
from the dead.

He ascended into heaven, and is

seated at the right hand of God,

the Father Almighty,from where

He shall come to judge the living

and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,

begotten of the Father before all worlds;

God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God;

begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,

and was made man;

and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;

He suffered and was buried;

and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures;

and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father;

and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead;

whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life;

who proceeds from the Father and the Son;

who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified;

who spoke by the prophets.

And I believe one holy Christian and apostolic Church.

I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins;

and I look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

The Evangelical Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration of the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

* The historic creed reads “He descended to the dead” or “He descended into hell.” Our phrasing is meant to avoid confusion while exalting Christ’s victory.

** The word “catholic” is used historically. Many people from secular backgrounds don’t understand the difference between the small “c” of catholic which refers to the universal church and the large “C” of Catholic that refers specifically to the Catholic church of Rome. We use the word Christian to honor the original intent and avoid confusion.
